At Junior Adventures Group, our focus is nurturing the potential of children in our care across Australia. We also believe in making a lasting positive impact in the communities where we live and work.
We couldn’t do this without our incredible staff, like our amazing Coordinators. In this Staff Spotlight, we spoke with OSHClub Senior Coordinator, Caitlen Bartlett in the ACT. With more than 4 years of experience working in outside school hours care, we asked Caitlen why she loves working in the industry and what makes the Coordinator role in our services so special.
For me it’s definitely because of how rewarding it is. Being able to go home at the end of the day knowing you’ve made a difference in the lives of the children that were in your care that day makes me feel really proud.
Over the past 4 years, my time at OSHClub has been a journey of professional growth and skill development. Starting as an educator, I progressed through roles such as Assistant Coordinator, Coordinator and finally Senior Coordinator. Not only has OSHClub been great for my career development, but I have also picked up many skills which are incredibly important in my field, such as leadership and behavioural management in kids.
One of my favourite memories would be the end-of-year showcase at Nicholls OSHClub last year, where we fundraised for The Smith Family. The kids got to showcase their interests and skills through Bake Sales and Talent Shows. There were some Family Face-Off activities too where kids got to compete against their parents in some challenges which was extremely fun and entertaining. It was an enjoyable event, but it also supported a great cause.
I think engaging with the community is crucial because it helps to cultivate a sense of belonging for all involved, from children to staff members. The supportive network the community creates really enhances the overall wellbeing for everyone.
You should come work for OSHClub because we get to create joyful moments for kids, there’s awesome career development for yourself, all while having fun!
After 4 years with us at Junior Adventures Group, Caitlen has now moved on to a role as an OOSH Manager. We’d like to thank her for her invaluable contributions to JAG and we wish her all the best in her future endeavours!
